What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that focuses on functional movements that vary on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Functional exercises are based on movements that we naturally do on a daily basis. Think sitting down, standing up, picking somthing up off the floor, placing something overhead. We train our bodies to be stronger and healthier for everyday life. Varying the movements is not an act of randomness, but rather an intentional way of programming so that we expose our clients to the vast array of exercises that exist. While at our core our goal is the get your stronger and faster, we also don’t want you to get bored with your fitness protocol. Switching up our focus on movements is a great way for you to stay engaged while still making progress.

The last key to your success through CrossFit is your intensity. Simply put, you need to challenge yourself. What it does NOT mean is lifting as much weight as you possibly can all the time or trying to sprint through movements that require focus, skill and practice. Many of the exercises we perform in Crossfit require proper mechanics and practice. Our goal is to get you moving well, then get you consistently performing movements with proper form under fatigue, and last, getting you to challenge yourself by slowing increasing the weight you lift and by trying to take less breaks and moving faster through your workouts. We cannot and will not stress enough how important proper form is when doing movements. We are confident that through our programming at CrossFit 908, we can keep you safe and help you reach your fitness goals, whatever they may be.
